Wreaking Havoc: Roboquest Lands in Xbox Game Pass
Over the past few months, we’ve been working together with RyseUp Studios to launch a brand-new game called Roboquest. It’s just been announced that it’ll now be a console launch exclusive via the Xbox Game Preview program later this year! Booyah! 💥
What is Roboquest?
Roboquest is a super fast FPS roguelite (if you’re confused about what that is, check out our article on the genre) that is all about creative gunplay action and razor-sharp movements.
In Milen's, the CEO of RyseUp, own words, it’s “a cel shaded comic-style shooter with blazing gameplay, single and co-op action, and a futuristic story." Sounds good to us.
What makes it different?
Milen and the guys at RyseUp Studios are, like yours truly, all about the fans. “We wanted to create a game that our fans want,” Milen said in Roboquest's Xbox announcement.
To do so, they decided early on to use an open development process. This means that they released an alpha version of a few levels first, and continuous updates. The community was massively important in this process, as they provided constant feedback, suggestions and ideas.
“We take that information into consideration and quickly iterate on concepts and features. We test them, release them to the community, listen carefully, and then iterate more,” Milen said.
How did we help?
Well, we can’t tell you the full story just yet… But it’s safe to say that we helped with their marketing. ;)
RyseUp Studios are not a big studio. They are an awesome up-and-coming independent studio armed with a small army of passionate gamers. As soon as we met them and saw their work, we knew we had to work together.
“We are a small team,' Milen said. 'We don’t have the megabucks to throw money at problems. But what we do have is a passionate creative agency on our side, Waste Creative, who have been involved in the process from the very beginning helping us be smart about our marketing decisions.”
The adventure continues...
Roboquest started open development almost a year ago, in August 2020. It’s launched with overwhelmingly positive reviews on Steam, and has to date amassed over 1,500 of them.
The big news we're celebrating how is the announcement that the game will launch fully on day one with Xbox Game Pass, and soon after for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Windows PC.
We’re so happy to see the work of the RyseUp guys get so much positive attention, and we are over the moon to have played a part.
